SME 2010 offers eclectic music choices for the public
Subang Jaya, 17 June 2010 – Tourism Selangor hit another milestone today in their bid to make the state a choice tourist destination with local and international tourists. Themed “Entertainment for All”, the Selangor Muzikal Ekstravaganza 2010 (SME 2010) promises to cater to the various musical tastes of the public of all ages.
SME 2010 musical events, which will run from 25 June to 18 July, 2010 at selected locations within the state, was officiated by the Selangor Tourism, Consumer and Environment Committee Chairman, The Honourable (Y.B.) Madam Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping at Grand Dorsett Subang Hotel today.
SME 2010 is a significant part of the ‘Selangor Shines’ tourism campaign by Tourism Selangor. It involves the participation of artistes from Selangor, as well as those from around Malaysia and the world.
YB Elizabeth Wong invites the public to take the opportunity to experience the musical extravaganza. She also stressed that “music can be an effective catalyst to unite people of various backgrounds as it transgresses multiple boundaries.”
Such sentiments is concurred by SME 2010’s event managers, Pekanmaya Productions, Out of This World Sdn Bhd and Go International Group Sdn Bhd, a cohort of like-minded individuals determined on presenting music events with the right blend and mix.
Each of these companies will be presenting different segments of SME 2010 that is sure to whet the appetite of music lovers. Out of This World Sdn Bhd will be presenting signature events such as musical theatre, Malaysian Rhythm concert, the International Islamic Song festival, Shining Stars competition and C&U Band Explosion. Meanwhile, Pekanmaya Productions will transform the iconic Dataran Petaling Jaya into a realm of Music Carnival complete with concerts, music workshops and live broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 2010 from 6pm to 6am. Go-11 Indie Concert & Bazaar will be Go International Group’s offering for the festival featuring popular independent bands such as Pesawat, Tempered Mental and the likes of singer-songwriters such as Liyana Fizi, Azmyl Yunor, Zalila Lee and more to set the stage for the live screening of the World Cup Finals.
The events presented by the three respective event managers are boosted further by accompanying satellite performances at selected venues. These performances include the Bon Odori Festival at Stadium Matsushita, Shah Alam, OperaFest Children’s Choir, Brass Band competition, and the Mahabbah Gaza Rabbani 18th Anniversary Concert, among others.
YB Elizabeth Wong also thanked local authorities Klang Municipal (MPKlang), Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA). “Their participation in SME 2010 is instrumental as it would not be a success without their unconditional support. They have been active in providing preferential venues for our events and have been promoting SME 2010 in their websites,” she added further.
