Honing creative talent at FEYST12
Homegrown Independent Youth Festival spur creative innovation amongst youngsters
21 September 2012, Kuala Lumpur – For the 5th year running, brand owner and organiser Go International Group presents FEYST: Independent Youth Festival. The content-rich festival kick-starts on 28 September and will run until 15 December 2012 with free music concerts, workshops, a music forum and video games tournaments in Central Market, Kuala Lumpur.
In conjunction with the late Yasmin Ahmad’s book release titled “How You Know’ by Leo Burnett recently, Yasmin Ahmad’s extensive advertisement videos, short films and movies will be screened every Thursday until the end of December at Central Market (DoPPel Kafe in Central Market Annexe). All proceeds from the screenings and book sale will go to Mercy Malaysia and the festival targets to raise RM30,000 by the end of the year for the fund.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to be signed on 25 September 2012 at the FEYST12 press conference will ink Mercy Malaysia’s “Yasmin Children’s Fund” as the beneficiary for FEYST12.

Salleh will witness the MOU signing ceremony between Go International Group Sdn Bhd – MD, Jasmine Low and MERCY Malaysia Honorary Secretary Secretary, Raja Riza Shazmin Raja Badrul Shah.
Launched in 2008, the Malaysian homegrown festival, FEYST: Independent Youth Festival provides an essential creative platform for youth to express, showcase and share their talents. The festival has sent 35 young Malaysian ambassadors to participate in international festivals like Electronic Sports World Cup (San Jose, USA and Paris, France), DreamHack (Sweden), Shanghai World Expo in China and Malaysia Fest Sydney, Australia.
FEYST12 has lined up a 3-month event listing that will surely keep the action packed momentum solid, combining the best of music and digital culture.
This year, the popular outdoor FEYST free concert will take place over two days – on 28 September in Central Market and on 6 October in conjunction with Kreatif Malaysia @ Panggung Anniversari. Over 40 independent acts have been lined up to hit the various stages during FEYST12 such as teenage newcomer Amrita Soon, soulful Dzamira Dzafri, singer songwriter Brian Gomez, guitar educationist Az Samad, post-rock Penang band Damn Dirty Apes, melodic rock band Djezna’s Stalker and many more.
A key highlight is the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) Malaysia Qualifier (PS3 FIFA13) pro-gamer qualifier where the winner will head to Paris Games Week (France) to better Malaysia’s 8th placing in last year’s global match. This takes place over two weekends on 29 & 30 September and 6 October 2012.
